States vote to introduce student loans in September

But despite giving the proposals their overwhelming support, many Members voiced concerns about some of the details of the scheme, which will affect young people going into higher education. The new scheme has been introduced following a change to mainland funding arrangements, as higher education institutions have increased their charges through additional top-up fees. The loans will come into effect in September and will be available to all Jersey students.
