According to Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur ‘the sun is shining’. It was argued that because many new immigrants are high-income earners, that they were paying more tax, generating more company tax and spending more, thereby creating more jobs in other sectors of the economy. ‘We are on track and on target,’ Senator Le Sueur said. ‘We are seeing five-year figures in line with what we were expecting and, yes, the sun is shining.’
