A £600,000 fund set up to help the pool along has almost dried up, and officers from the Education department and Treasury are reviewing how the pool will be funded after 2008. Around £200,000 of the original fund remains but that money is due to run out soon because the pool is costing more to run and taking less money than was originally projected, according to the Treasury department.
