French tests to aid title bid in Rhodes

Kennedy has drafted several non-Island Games players into his Rhodes 2007 Games training squad, enabling him to play different teams against the Normandy visitors tomorrow and on Sunday.

Kennedy said: ‘We know nothing of the opposition, so this is a similar exercise to the Island Games, as we know nothing about Gibraltar or Menorca either.

The focus this weekend is on us – we will be looking to do things correctly.

‘We’re fully aware that Mondeville are semi-professional and they will be challenging opposition for us.

Lee Bradshaw, Jack Boyle and Jason de Andrade have been training with us and they will all feature.

‘Playing two different teams gives the management team a chance to try a few things out, as well as having a good look at those who have been involved since the start of Muratti training in match situations.

‘This is an ideal opportunity for us to get some match fitness into our legs again before Rhodes.

The object is to give every squad player a full 90 minutes, and hopefully they will all remain injury free at the end of it.’ Jersey, tomorrow: Andrew Bird, Joel Speight, Lee Bradshaw, Kevan Crowell, Chris Conning, Dave Le Roux, James O’Haire, Ashley Dodd, John Beatson, Paul Aitken, Alex Jefferies, Jack Boyle, Jason De Andrade, Stuart André and Jimmy Styles.

Sunday: Peter Vincenti, James Scott, Joel Speight, Russell Le Feuvre, Jimmy Styles, Dave Le Roux, Craig Leitch, Liam Walshe, Ross Crick, Jack Cannon, Chris Andrews, Andrew Bird, Stuart André.

Both games kick off at 1 pm.
