Simon Cheetham, from Ely Place Chambers in Chancery Lane, London, who is the author of Age Discrimination – The New Law and a part-time employment tribunal chairman, believes that there will be problems in future concerning the employment of migrant workers in Jersey.
Mr Cheetham said: ‘There were a number of questions at last year’s event from employers about how race discrimination legislation might affect migrant workers in the service industries.
‘It is possible that there may be challenges under the proposed Race Discrimination (Jersey) Law if it can be shown that migrant workers receive less favourable treatment in the workplace.
