Mr Jones served as a police officer for 38 years before retiring in 2003. But he then had a short but successful second career with the Jersey Business School, where he retired as head of management last year. Deputy chief officer Lenny Harper said: ‘This is an extremely sad time for the States of Jersey Police. Roly Jones served with distinction for 37 years. He will be sadly missed by all his friends at Police Headquarters and the thoughts of everyone are with his family.’ The head of the Jersey Business School, Professor Ed Sallis, said today that tributes to Mr Jones had been pouring in. ‘He was a tremendous colleague and took to teaching like he had been doing it all his life,’ said Prof Sallis.
