Detectives are describing the incident as a ‘stranger attack’ and are appealing for help to identify the alleged attacker. The 26-year-old woman had walked up Mulcaster Street between 11 pm and 11.30 pm when she was approached by the man. P insp Chris Beechey, who is heading the investigation, said that there appeared to have been contact between them as they passed the bus stop and public toilets at Snow Hill. The alleged assault took place near to the area where motorcycles are parked on the way to the car park and by the electricity box.
