The food department at JCG opened its doors to students to compete in the first Skills For Life cooking competition, the aim of which has been to promote cooking skills and healthy eating. The schools held their own heats to find the best candidates and students from all year groups took part. Head of home economics at JCG, Margo Dick, said she was delighted with the response from everyone concerned. ‘It’s been fantastic, the professional chefs have been astounded by the quality of cooking on display,’ she said. ‘It will definitely be an annual event, it has been so popular.’
