Green fields to make way for 450 homes?

They are included in proposals from Planning and Housing which would see green fields make way for 450 homes, if the States agree. The departments have published a list of ten sites today that they hope will be rezoned for sheltered housing and first-time buyer homes. They have persuaded the Constables of St Brelade, St Mary, St John, St Clement, Trinity and St Saviour to volunteer sites for hundreds of houses to help solve what the Housing Minister has described as a ‘desperate shortage’. If the list, making up nearly 30 vergées of land, is accepted by the States it will make way for 215 life-long homes for the elderly to rent, 202 for purchase and 49 first-time buyer homes.
