The Glasgow trio who shot to fame with their brilliant debut album Costello Music are the first names to be announced by the organisers. Their signature again confirms the event’s ability to attract the biggest names on the festival circuit. Singles such as Chelsea Dagger and Henrietta are already seen as modern classics and the Glasgow group won Best Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards. They will be one of the headline acts at Glastonbury in June, the biggest music event in the world. The Fratellis follow in the path of Razorlight, Kasabian, Snow Patrol, The Zutons and Editors who have all played the festival at the Royal Jersey Showground in the past. But they are being tipped to be the best live act the Island has ever seen. Jersey Live organiser Warren Holt said: ‘They are going to mindblowing. They are one of the best live acts in the world. I’ve just seen them play at the Coachella Festival in California in front of 65,000 people and they were awesome. ‘This festival is getting bigger every year. To be able to attract a band of this calibre to Jersey shows how far we have come in three years.’ And organisers are promising another mouth-watering act to headline alongside The Fratellis. Those lucky enough to have tickets for tonight’s Battle of the Bands event at Havana will be the first to find out who that is. The name of the second headline act will be announced to the audience after the final of the play-off for local bands.
