Anger over eco-friendly home plan in St Brelade

Plans for ‘Open House’, a carbon-neutral building which generates its heat and energy from solar panels and a wind turbine, have been submitted to Planning by David Sheppard. He wants to construct the five-bedroom house with a swimming pool and triple garage in field 621 at Noirmont, which is in the green zone. Mr Sheppard’s previous plans for the site went all the way to the Royal Court after he was refused permission to put up two houses in the field. When he lost in October last year, Noirmont residents thought that their battle was over. But the new scheme has horrified next-door neighbour Andrew Thompson and other residents, who say that the home will be totally out of character with the area.
