Gay pressure group welcomes foster rights

A statement from the Jersey-based gay and lesbian group read: ‘We welcome this opportunity to foster children and support the Children’s Service. Many gay men and lesbians have children of their own and would like to be able to offer a home to children who are experiencing difficulties.’ However, the equal rights campaigners say that the States could be accused of double standards. Gay people are now considered fit to care for children but they cannot be united in civil partnerships, they say.
