Phase two of La Haule work starts next week

Phase two between Bel Royal and Beaumont is due to start on Tuesday. Transport and Technical Services say that the first phase of roadworks ran smoothly and that work on the second stretch of road will start one week ahead of schedule. From 6.30 pm on Tuesday, and then from Monday to Friday, the road between Bel Royal and Beaumont will be made one-way for west-bound traffic heading from town towards St Aubin. Repairs will continue until 2 am on a nightly basis for an estimated ten weeks. Night-time traffic heading towards St Helier will be diverted through Mont Fallu or Rue du Craslin. Both those roads will be made one-way for east-bound traffic while repairs are being carried out. During the ten-week period the entire stretch of road will be closed on occasions, but this will be limited to after 9 pm and warning notices will be posted before any full closure of the road. People who live in the area have been assured by Transport Minister Guy de Faye that all noisy work will be carried out before 11 pm. The work is part of a £15 m project by Transport and Technical Services to improve the standard of roads in Jersey over the next five years.
