It is hoped that the foundation degree in financial services will be up and running at Highlands College by September 2008. Highlands principal Ed Sallis said that the degree would be unique. ‘We are devising it with the industry and making sure that it is just what the industry needs,’ he said. ‘It will be unique, as no other degrees currently have such an offshore or Jersey flavour.’ The two-year foundation degree will target three groups – traditional leavers from Highlands and the Island’s sixth forms as an alternative to going away to university; mature students who want to use it as an entry to more senior roles in the finance industry; and people who are already working within the finance industry.
