Young golf masters get Royal reprieve

and another opens.

Well, that is the situation in Jersey with young golfers having lost the driving range facility at Les Ormes, but, almost immediately, another opportunity having arisen with the announcement that Royal Jersey are to run a Young Masters golf programme.

Longueville Golf Range joint owner Trevor Gray said: ‘It’s a shame to lose a facility for the youngsters but they should not worry because Royal Jersey are launching a new programme that will start early next month.

‘The Royal training academy already use our facilities and they will be running the Young Masters Golf programme here too under PGA professional David Morgan.

‘This new schedule is a structured programme and it will be starting in several weeks.

It covers the whole process of the game and for the kids it is top of the range.’ YMG is the first-ever structured educational syllabus designed to not only introduce boys and girls to goal but also help them develop skills and knowledge of the game to help keep them interested and motivated to keep them in the sport.

‘Alongside coaching how to play, we will also teach the rules and etiquette through activities, fun challenges and mini competitions to ensure that the whole golfing experience is about having fun.’
