Indoor cricket: Abbey go clear as OVs slip

Abbey beat Jersey Seniors at Fort Regent by three wickets while previously second-placed Rathbone Old Victorians dropped a position after they were defeated by six wickets by Farmers, who moved into joint-second ahead of OVs.

Ward Jenner was undefeated on 67 for OVs as the champions of two season’s ago were restricted to 91 for 5 in their 12 overs.

Joel Richardson returned two wickets for 16 runs before Farmers reached their target with John Perchard and Dave Buxton both undefeated on 25.

Dave Gorman was 26 not out in Jersey Seniors’ defeat by Abbey.

Chasing the Seniors’ 98 for 3 total Abbey reached their target for the loss of three wickets, Ryan Driver and Jon Prince both unbeaten on 33 and 26 respectively.

Pentagon moved off the bottom and above Centurions who they defeated by 71 runs to record their first win of the campaign.

Nick Walmsley took three wickets as Centurions were 66 all out, earlier Pentagon reached 137 assisted by 61 runs from Karl Le Fèvre and 25 by Barry Parsons.

Top team score of the night was in Division II where JUBRFC scored 140 for 2 to beat Walkovers B by 51 runs.

Nick Symonds and Dave Jenkins were both 25 not out for the winners while Geoff Knott took two wickets as Walkers B finished 89 all out.
