The idea follows a call from iConsult for CI businesses to cut the amount of e-waste that they produce in the wake of the world forum on e-waste in Nairobi, where it was revealed that around 50 million tonnes of computer waste is generated each year worldwide – much of it containing toxic chemicals.
Tony Moffa, iConsult’s business development manager, said: ‘There is a need to cut the amount of computer equipment going to waste in the Channel Islands.
Currently computer hardware is the fastest-growing form of municipal waste.
