SAILING Hobie champions Darren Stower and Mike Winspear defended their title by winning the Hobie 16 class in the Channel Islands Hobie Cat championship held over the weekend.
Gordon Burgis and Ken Snell were second and Grant Neale and Karen Larose were third.
David Carter and Simon Le Huray won the Hobie Tigers class.
In the Junior Hobie Dragoons class the winners were Laurence Carter and Leo Schofield, ahead of Laura-Jane Carter and Thomas Harris, and Rhiannah de Carteret and Hannah Voak finished third.
The Hobie B fleet winners were Matt Dale and James Winchester.
GOLF Emmanuel to the fore Mick Emmanuel won La Moye Golf Club’s TEL final on Saturday with 41 points off his 13 handicap.
Steve Hervieu was second with 39 pts off 17 with Harry Proffitt third, also with 39 points off a handicap of 16.
GOLF Western’s Quad Jersey Western GC won the Quadrangular match at La Moye GC yesterday, with a total 257 to beat both the Royal Guernsey GC (total 252) and La Moye GC (249).

SHOOTING JRA clip RAF wings The Jersey Rifle Association hosted marksmen from the RAF Target Rifle Club over the weekend.
Both Jersey sides – seniors and veterans – beat their visiting counterparts.
Mary Norman top-scored for the senior side with 150,20 and Graeme Harris for the Veterans, 150.25.
In Saturday’s Prize Shoot Keith Trowbridge (RAF) top-scored with 105.16, Bruce Horwood (Jersey) scored 105.14 and Dave Calvert (RAF) scored 105.13.
GOLF Messervy Salver Christy McLaughlin won the Messervy Salver at the Royal Jersey GC on Saturday with a total 137 (70 + 67).
Richard Ramskill, with the same total (68+69), was second and Gavin O’Neill, with a blistering second round, was third with a total 138 (74 + 64).
SAILING Quick and slow The overall winners in St Catherine’s SC Personal Handicap Pursuit yesterday were Charles Perkins in the fast boat category and Helier Heath in the slow boat races.
Second and third in the fast boats were Martin and Emma Speller respectively, and Nicholas and Elizabeth Ellison were second and third respectively in the slow boats.
SHOOTING White a winner Ian White won the Jersey Pistol Association final for the President’s Cup with 295 points, just one ahead of Mark Douglas.
Francis Devonald was third with 290.
Douglas and Devonald then both moved up a place to finish first and second in the Faulkner Trophy competition, with 104 and 102 points respectively.
Bob Blake was third with 95.
GOLF Wildman top St Clement’s GC junior Nick Wildman won the Le Riche Cup Stableford competition at St Clement’s yesterday with 42 points (17 h’cap).
Second was Brian Duffy with 39 pts (h’cap 17).
SHOOTING Crabbé 50-bird John Shales was High Gun and scored 42-ex 50 in the Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-bird sporting practice shoot.
Nigel Pearmain won Class B with 36 ex 50; Colin Edwards was Class C winner with 35 ex 50.
BOWLS St Brelade beat Vale St Brelade BC played Vale Recreation BC in Guernsey on Saturday and retained the trophy they won last year, beating the Sarnians by five rinks to two, with a shot difference of 115 to Vale’s 108.
