Les Pas deal: Vote in favour expected

Although the House is sitting in secret, it is thought that the deal proposed by the Policy and Resources Committee will be accepted by a majority of at least ten Members. The long-running saga may now be close to conclusion but P & R president Senator Frank Walker has said there will be a public inquiry into the background.

As a result of the timetable involved to conclude the deal, it may be some weeks before the terms of reference are drawn up and a chairman appointed.Transcripts of today and yesterday’s secret States sitting are to be released publicly but it is not known how long it will be before the public can read or hear details of the debate.Today’s expected decision would lead to the end of the Les Pas legal claim to the St Helier foreshore and the signing of an out-of-court settlement by CI Traders chairman Tom Scott on behalf of Les Pas and Advocate Richard Falle on his own behalf as the Seigneur de la Fief de la Fosse.
