Homes plan ‘too big’, says Deputy

Around 85 comments, predominantly negative, from parishioners who live near the development were received following a viewing of drawings of the proposed scheme last week in the parish hall.Planning officer Ralph Buchholz, however, has said that largely because of a mistake in the Jersey Gazette notice of the viewing session, there were few first-time buyers who came, and their comments did not balance the concerns of those who did not like the scheme. However, he added that all comments would be studied and discussed with the developer and architect before an application was made to Planning. The proposed Category A housing development is for a site zoned in the Island Plan.Deputy Egré said he was concerned because at a parish meeting held several months ago, a total of 54 units had been discussed.

At a subsequent meeting, this had become 68 units, and now Planning was talking about 87 units.
