Jimmy Perchard has been given permission to create a cricket pitch near his home in Rue de la Vignette, St Martin, and Tom Binet’s proposals for a golf driving range in Rue du Champ Colin, St Saviour, have also been successful.
Both applicants are pleased with the news, but have yet to receive the detailed approval.With ideal grass planting conditions forecast for the rest of the month, they are now anxious to press ahead.The work to transform Fields 724 and 722 includes planting 70 trees and removing a hedge.
Mr Perchard said that he would be taking advice from the Men of the Trees and the Department of Agriculture.
If all goes according to plan, from the start of next year’s cricket season he will have fulfilled a lifetime ambition to be the proud owner of a cricket pitch.
