Call girl money ‘was laundered through Jersey’

During a court case in Paris which has grabbed the headlines in British national newspapers this week, it was alleged that Margaret MacDonald, who is accused of running Europe’s largest network of prostitutes, deposited up to £14,000 a month in Jersey, which was her ‘cut’ for recruiting and managing 538 women and 56 men.The two-day trial concluded yesterday and a judgment is expected in about a month.Inspector Barry Faudemer, head of Jersey’s Joint Financial Crimes Unit, said: ‘As a result of this allegation coming into the public domain we will now launch an investigation to discover if any of the money is in Jersey.

I can’t comment further at this stage, but we will certainly be looking into the matter.’
