Interests declared as Les Pas debate begins

CI Traders owns 12.25 per cent of Les Pas Holdings and is chaired by Guernsey-based multi-millionaire Tom Scott.

The States shareholding is held in two charitable trusts and is valued at over £6m.No decision has yet been made whether in the planned public debate will be held next Tuesday or a week later on 30 September.

Yesterday Policy and Resources Committee president Senator Frank Walker revealed that he had spoken to Mr Scott over the weekend to ask for a delay and the Les Pas side had agreed for an extension of the debate until the end of the month.Meanwhile, four politicians were asked to withdraw from the Chamber prior to the start of the debate, as they had all previously declared an interest.

Members of the press and the public were also asked to leave.
