Les Pas: 7,000 say ‘no deal’

Mr Shenton is petitioning the Privy Council and wants the Queen to instigate an inquiry into the Les Pas situation on four points. He is asking for an investigation into the role of the Crown appointees, taking into account the present circumstances, and he also wants any inquiry to look into the role of the Lieut-Governor and whether a policy should be established barring future appointees from taking up a commercial post in Jersey within five years of leaving office. The third strand of the petition will request an investigation into the privileges and rights of Seigneurs and whether such privileges can be transferred to a third party for commercial profit. The fourth strand seeks an investigation into the question of Crown ownership of the foreshore.
