End of the line for Department of Agriculture

The changes mean that the functions of the department which are concerned with the environment will be transferred to the Environment and Public Services Department, and those to do with the commercial and financial aspects will remain with Economic Development.The specific functions going to Environment and Public Services are fisheries, land regulation, technical, veterinary regulation and all operational services such as the abattoir and waste and composting.

Economic Development will retain responsibility for the strategic policy for the agricultural and fisheries industries, for marketing and promoting the industries and their products, and for the provision and management of the various forms of States financial aid.
