The Town Hall receives dozens of letters each week from people aggrieved that they have received parking tickets and Simon Crowcroft recognises that in many cases, this is with some justification. He said that he did not want to criticise parking control officers, who were simply doing their job.

But he also recognised that there were countless people getting very angry and upset for being booked when the circumstances might not warrant it.The parking problem has been highlighted by a case involving a woman who was giving birth and whose partner did not put up a scratchcard before he rushed into the Hospital.

He ended up getting two parking tickets.
