Swim star chases Olympic dream

Sixteen-year-old Simon Le Couilliard has given up his place at Hautlieu to chase his dream of international stardom in the pool.

He is already the British junior champion and record-holder in the 200m butterfly and recently won bronze in the European Youth Olympics as well as being a multiple Island Games gold medal winner.Simon is currently on his way to Australia’s Gold Coast to enrol in an elite sports academy.

He was one of eight talented youngsters selected to travel to Southport School, in Queensland, where he will be under the supervision of British coach Dave Calleja.He will spend two years at the school and aims to represent the nation at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and then the Olympics two years later.
