Club’s have moved away from the end-of-season vote after agreeing to nominate an opponents’ man-of-the-match for every game and the player who gets the most votes at the end of the season will be the Player of the Year.Club secretaries will record their votes on their team sheets after games and records will be kept by the Combination’s registrations secretary.Combination president Tim Darwin said: ‘We had a request from a Club to change the voting system and it was accepted by the delegates.’It was suggested so that clubs would not have to think back to who played well in the early part of the season.

Votes were previously cast after the season had finished and without wanting to detract from any previous winners I think the new system will give those who play well at the start of the season a fairer chance of winning.’It will still be a surprise for the leading three players in Division I, Division II and the Ladies at the end of the season as we will keep a record of the man-of-the-match votes but they will not be made public at any time.’
