Mr Black admitted that there was pressure on his department due to under-resourcing, as well as initial problems in other departments – issues highlighted this week in the States Audit Commission’s annual report for 2002.However, he stressed that despite this, the final accounts for the States had been absolutely correct.Mr Black said it was important that in the drive for efficiency and cuts in States spending, a well-resourced accounts department was maintained.’It is not necessarily a matter of more resources,’ said Mr Black.

‘It is about making sure that these things are deemed to be a high priority.’
