Nominations sought for new awards

Following the success achieved in June by the honorary police in the awards introduced to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee last year, further moves are being made to encourage more nominees to come forward. Those nominated in the recent awards are also able to be entered once again but a new application form has to be submitted. The search is on for nominations of groups of two or more people who give their time to improving the quality of life and opportunities for others in the community.

That contribution must be in addition to fund-raising efforts.Volunteers must be nominated by someone independent of the running of the group or of those involved in its organisation, but may be beneficiaries of the service being provided.Application forms, which must be returned to the organisers in London no later than 15 September, are obtainable from parish halls, the Employment and Social Security Department, Jersey Library and Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
