Boca Juniors beat a game Celtic 2-0 at Springfield last night to finish top of the table with three straight wins.That the Argentinian side deserved to win the fifth international tournament, which also included teams from Manchester United and Benfica, was beyond doubt as their football has brought a new dimension to the U21 competition.And they made it a double, when their speedy skilful striker Gaston Sangoy beat off tough competition to win the Jersey Evening Post Player of the Tournament award.Sangoy, an 18-year-old, has already played for Argentina’s national U21 side, and was the leading scorer for his team last season.Born in a town outside of Buenos Aires, he joined Boca Juniors as a 13-year-old.

Speedy, with super control and a phenomenal work-rate, he led the Boca line with distinction throughout the tournament.Speaking through an interpreter, he said he was very pleased to win the award, but even more pleased for the team.

Sangoy’s performances beat off tough opposition from the likes of Jo?o Pereira, a lightning fast wing-back called up by Benfica’s first team during the tournament, Boca captain David Reano, Manchester United’s accomplished midfielder Neil Wood and Celtic striker Aiden McGeady.
