The Sarnians’ skipper hit a magnificent 93 at the top of the order to lay the foundations for his side’s large total of 228 for seven from their 50 overs.Dave Piesing also batted superbly for Guernsey, hitting 68 off 64 balls, sharing in a partnership of 135 with Wakeford.Jersey were then bowled out for 185, the final wicket falling in the last over, with Keith Le Cheminant taking four wickets for the home side.Andy Gibbs provided the third quality half-century of the day but it was not enough for Jersey.’It was a good toss to win,’ said Wakeford.’We batted well, although when we had lost three wickets for 62 things looked a bit dodgy.
But Dave batted superbly – that was the best I have seen him play.
