Since the first hosepipe ban for 14 years was introduced on 23 July, demands on water supplies have dropped between 20 and 25 per cent.

Rain in the past few days has brought relief to dry and dusty gardens and has improved water stocks marginally.Principal meteorological officer Tony Pallot said today that temperatures would be in the region of 25?C tomorrow, climbing to the upper 20s by Sunday.’The weekend will be pleasantly warm with an easterly breeze up to force four,’ Mr Pallot said, ‘and temperatures from Monday to Wednesday are likely to be in the 30s.’With the high temperatures comes a risk of thunder, of which there will be a slight chance on Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
