Both Policy and Resources president Senator Frank Walker and Finance and Economics president Senator Terry Le Sueur are of the view that the Island can not only rise to the challenge of external pressures but will do so better than its competitors.Writing in the new issue of the JEP’s Finance in Jersey supplement, Senator Le Sueur reflects on the ‘stable and traditional’ environment prevailing over recent months, which he says is one of the cornerstones of the Island’s success.’Jersey has been fortunate in escaping much of the downturn faced in other similar financial marketplaces,’ he says.
‘Even against a background of a sluggish stock market, business is expanding and funds on deposit in Jersey are at an all-time high.
This is underpinned by a regulatory framework which is at the forefront of international expectations.’
