Health and Social Services want to undertake a comprehensive review and revision of the legislation in an attempt to reduce alcohol-related assault, malicious damage, antisocial behaviour, public disorder and under-age drinking.They say that the move, if agreed, could also help to promote a healthy lifestyle and discourage intoxication.The review is one of several proposals contained in the committee’s new Alcohol Strategy.
The strategy follows extensive consultation and research into how other countries are tackling alcohol-related problems.
