Arts and community centre makes its debut

Several local and overseas performers took to the stage to raise money for the John Lobb Trust, which supports young Island musicians.Among the artists performing were internationally celebrated harpist Margaret Knight, who played a dawn chorus at St Catherine’s last weekend, Amy Luce and the Holmchase Choir , cellist Gerard Le Feuvre and soprano Imogen Nicholls.’It went really well,’ said Mike Wavell, who bought the former Methodist hall and managed the three-year project to turn into the centre.

‘The atmosphere was quite electric and the place was packed.Mr Wavell, who hopes groups will use the venue to hold fund-raising concerts, added that many people were last night sowing the seeds for future events and uses for the building.
