The case of Alan James Ford (23) was brought to the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Ford is charged with committing a grave and criminal assault, resisting arrest and being drunk at an airfield on 1 July at Jersey Airport.He has reserved his pleas to the charges.
They will now be sent up to the Royal Court where he is already facing trial for a grave and criminal assault he denies committing in April.Police legal adviser Advocate Robin Morris told the Magistrate’s Court that Ford had arrived in the Island on a flight from the UK and was told that his luggage had been lost.
He became abusive and is alleged to have grabbed Det Con Andrew Gibaut by his tie and throttled him, tightening the knot.The Assistant Magistrate, Ian Christmas, said that the case was not suitable for the lower court and remanded Ford in custody.
He will reappear on 6 August when committal proceedings to the Royal Court are due to begin.
