Jersey shooters out in force at Bisley

Teams from Australia, South Africa, Canada, USA, Malaysia and Great Britain, to name but a few, will be descending upon Bisley Camp in Surrey in their quest to become world champions.As well as competing in the Imperial Meeting which is the biggest target shooting event in the world, the Jersey marksmen and women will be taking on the very best at the world individual and world team championshipsat distances of up to 1,000 yards.Over 1,000 entrants are expected for each competition and the field is likely to be in excess of 1,500 for Her Majesty the Queen’s Prize, which is Bisley’s most prestigious shooting match and on par with the World Championships.The 35 strong team from Jersey hope to net a bag of medals.

The standard of shooting required to win at this level is extremely high, but NatWest Island Games triumphants, Peter Stock , Cliff Mallett and Alex Langley are confident of success and see the Island Games last week as their first confident step on their annual march to Bisley.

Said Langley: ‘Right now it feels really good.
