Draft law paves way for nhanced workers rights

If approved it paves the way for much enhanced rights for workers, including a minimum wage, protection against unfair dismissal and minimum holidays.The 90-page law is part of an enormous agenda which even the most optimistic Member would admit is likely to be left uncompleted at the end of one day.The perennially controversial issue of population is also on the agenda as are proposals to give the courts a new tool in their sentencing armoury – the suspended sentence.But one of the most contentious issues of the day is likely to be the Housing Committee’s proposals to limit the rental subsidy scheme – a policy described as an attack on the poor by some Members.As usual there is a whole raft of questions being aimed at States presidents.
