Her time of 2.53.36 easily surpassed Islander Claire Forbes’ time of 2.57.17, set last year, although afterwards the petite runner, who was so dominant that she was the overall seventh finisher and more than ten minutes faster than second-placed Alice Constance, from London, merely said that she was ‘very pleased’; that ‘the shade was nice’ and that her PB was 2.38.
In other words, the 5 ft 2 in Commonwealth Games marathon runner and former jockey believed that she could have run faster than that.
First Jersey woman back was Le Rocquier teacher Andrea Banks, who finished fourth.
The first man home was Jethro Lennox (2.32.05) and the first Jersey runner was Nick Saunders.
