Christmas tree appeal launched – upload your festive photos here

Jersey Hospice Care are once again organising their Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling Scheme, with volunteers going out to collect trees from homes and businesses in early January in exchange for donations to the charity.

  • As part of the JEP’s support of the scheme, we are encouraging readers to send in pictures of their decorated Christmas trees.
  • You can upload yours below.

Launched in 2005, the annual scheme has to date raised more than £200,000 for Jersey Hospice, with over 2,000 trees collected last year alone.

For a second year, the initiative is being sponsored by Aztec Group, with the support of the Jersey Evening Post, and it is hoped that the 11th year of the campaign could be the most successful to date.

The scheme was started by Trevor Parker, who said that its success has been down to the dedication of hundreds of volunteers.

‘The project has grown from collecting a few hundred trees with two or three vans, to over 2,000 trees with a fleet of 20 vans,’ he said. ‘I feel proud that it’s become so successful, but I’m well aware that this is due to the commitment and enthusiasm that the volunteers show every year.’

Volunteers will collect trees from local businesses on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 January, and from homes on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January.

Islanders can register online to have their trees collected and recycled here and anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call 07829 800012.
