Rowing: Sark to Jersey’s 50-year run comes to an end

After two previous postponements due to bad weather, the annual race – scheduled for Saturday lunchtime– was called off altogether on Thursday as high winds are forecast to descend on the Channel Islands.

The event has been held every year since its debut in 1967.

‘It can’t happen, and with all that’s happening in September – the Herm Rocks weekend, round Jersey and the Cherbourg Regatta – we’ve decided to call it a day for this year,’ said Blandin.

‘I’m devastated, absolutely devastated.’

Blandin said that Sundays will be used as reserve days from 2018 in an attempt to avoid a repeat.
