Rugby: Reds change style to stay 'ahead of the times'

Sport | Published:

JERSEY REDS' new season roars into action on Saturday, as the Islanders contest their first of three pre-season fixtures.

And head coach Harvey Biljon says fans can expect a different style of play from his team, as they attempt to build on a particularly successful 12 months.

The South African boss, who led Jersey to a fifth-place Championship finish and the British & Irish Cup final last season, says the Reds have adapted their approach to 'keep ahead of the times' – but he refused to be drawn on exactly what supporters can expect when they visit St Peter.

The new-look squad open their friendly campaign against French side Vannes at Stade Yves Chapron in Arzon, before welcoming Coventry to the Island next week. A trip to Premiership giants Harlequins follows.
