Football: One-year ban for Jersey Portuguese FC

Combination delegates and league officials made the decision at an extraordinary meeting on Monday night at the C5 Centre on The Esplanade.

Portuguese were found guilty of failing to control their players during an incident against St Ouen FC this season, resulting in them breaching the terms of an existing 30-month suspended sentence for a number of similar offences.

The club stated they would not be entering a team next season because they had lost their sponsor, but a proposition to decline their affiliation for 2017/18 – and consider their situation again in 12 months – was discussed and carried by 18 votes to one in a secret ballot.
