Surfing: CI land Browning for Biarritz

The Guernseyman, who now lives in Portugal, is set to join a six-strong team from 20-28 May as the islands make their International Surfing Association debut.

The CISF were granted membership with the world governing body last month, meaning riders can compete at global events without having to gain selection for Great Britain.

Browning will coach and compete at the World Games and CI team manager Roley McMichael believes his experience could help the newest ISA members to make an immediate mark.

McMichael said: ‘Jez has a lot of experience, he’s a full-time coach who works with beginners through to the top guys and he coaches all over Europe. With his coaching skills he can relate more to the younger guys in the team than I can, while contest-wise he will provide very good experience to the team.’
