Football: Leicester made to work for Springfield success

The scoreline and match stats pointed to a one-sided affair, but Martin Cassidy’s men performed admirably in a 3-0 defeat, in front of a bustling Springfield crowd.

Jersey substitute Kieran Lester had a shot cleared off the line at 2-0 as the hosts pushed to reduce the deficit.

‘It was not an easy game,’ said Beaglehole. ‘Jersey were very committed and gave a good account of themselves. In the second half it looked as though they’d keep a clean sheet – they were unfortunate to concede towards the end.’
