Netball: Guthrie excited for Super start

The Sydney-based club, one of three new franchises, open their Suncorp Super Netball account against local rivals NSW Swifts after unveiling a star-studded lineup for the tournament’s inaugural campaign.

Giants have hand-picked a number of senior internationals – including five World Cup medallists and are already being tipped to challenge for the title.

‘I’m excited to finally get going,’ said Guthrie, who left Auckland outfit Northern Mystics last summer. ‘There has been a lot of hype behind the competition, so it’s cool to be finally on the cusp of starting.’

Super Netball, formed following the demise of the ANZ Championship, will provide landmark contracts as officials bid to make the sport fully professional.

All eight clubs have signed a deal which offers players an average wage of $67,500.
