Football: Cassidy names youthful squad for Luton test

The Scot has named a 17-strong matchday squad for the 2pm kick-off at Springfield, with a number of U18s being offered the chance to make their mark. Cedars, a college academy side linked to League Two club Luton Town, beat Jersey’s U18s 3-1 on their last visit to the Island in 2015.

‘The players deserve to be supported, it would be really good for them if we could get a good crowd in and create an atmosphere,’ said Cassidy.

‘When we played Northern Ireland Schoolboys recently it was a competitive game and you only had to see the delight on the faces of the Irish lads when they scored late goals to win, which proves these games are more than friendlies.

‘We will be looking to play at a high tempo and create more chances than we did last time out.’

Euan Van Der Vliet, Dan Birrell, Jay Giles, Connor O’Shea, Harry Curtis, Carl Duncan, Connor Maher, Declan O’Connell, Kyle Devenish, Evan Nobes, Joe Kilshaw, Jody Byrne, Harrison Moon, Sam Masefield, Bradley Le Mercier, Jake Prince, Jake Huckerby.
