Sport: JFA make progress with Uefa visit

Representatives from the European governing body are yet to fulfil their promise to visit the Island following the JFA’s application for Uefa membership – submitted in December. Austin says a list of dates have now been proposed (8-11 November), but a response from Uefa is still pending.

There had been suggestions that officials from Switzerland could travel to Jersey tomorrow, but both Austin and Senator Sir Philip Bailhache – providing support as the JFA appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport – are unavailable.

The JFA had their bid rejected last month on the grounds that the Island is not an ‘independent state’ recognised by the United Nations. However, Uefa announced they still intend to ‘conduct a site visit’ which will be ‘related to the status of football in Jersey’.
