Netball: Towering Telstars inflict heavy defeat on Jets

After leading in the opening three minutes, Jets were hauled back and barged aside by the visitors, with a dominant display from their attack forcing the Islanders to settle for a single, ’50 per cent’ bonus point.

The home side found themselves 5-3 ahead in the opening minutes, but the scoreboard soon made for unfavourable reading. Telstars bounced back without hesitation, and 13-7 became 17-10 before the first claxon.

The seven-goal lead was boosted to 12 by the Kent outfit in the second spell, and Jets were unable to stem the tide after half-time as goal-shooter Amoy Clarke and Telstars PoM Amanda Davis continued to wreak havoc.

Jets débutante Emily Sumner helped steady the ship in the fourth, scoring 12 goals, although any hope of success was already long gone.
